Hello, my name is Ariffa, thanks for stopping by! Here, you’ll find stories of a girl who loves food, and lives to have new experiences every day. I’m a messy cook and one of those crazy yogis. I live by my to-do lists but savour every ounce of spontaneity that comes my way. I’m always growing, always learning and extremely independent. I surround myself with a network of amazing people who only add to my life. Oh, and I like shoes. I like them a lot.

Culinary Point Of View

I’ve had a passion for cooking for years. The excitement that I get from making a new recipe, having a fully stocked fridge and pantry, or spending hours wandering the aisles of specialty food stores is one of my quirks that I adore about myself.

I belive in enjoying whole, healthy food that fuels the body and mind, but also completely immersing myself in the experience of eating truly delicious food.

I love to slave over a hot stove for hours, make it appear that a tornado swept through my kitchen, cut, chop, steam, saute, broil, mash and season to my heart’s content, even if it is only for a few moments of enjoyment.

Though I’m never one to discredit the perfection of fast, simple meals.

There is no label for the way that I eat. I enjoy a variety of healthy foods and ridiculous indulgences. Nothing is ‘off limits‘ and I do my best to eat exactly what I want, when I want it. Most of the time, my body does a pretty good job of making healthy decisions, but there is always room for nachos, ice-cream, french fries and cookies in a healthy diet.

Exercise is crucial. I stay active because of how amazing it makes me feel. It is an instant boost to my mood, confidence and energy. I like to get a little movement in every day, be it yoga, running, spinning, BodyPump or a long, leisurely walk. If I can’t find time for ‘structured’ exercise in my day, I happily consider long shopping sessions, spontaneous bouts of bursting into dance or laughing fits with my friends to be adequate exercise for the day.

2009-2010 Coming out of highschool, I was without a clue what I wanted to be when I grew up. Reluctant to take a year off of school after graduation, I decided to earn my diploma in business administration while ‘I figured it out‘. I made it through only one miserable year, unfortunately. I discovered that my passion lied with food and nutrition and that was what I would pursue.

2010-2011 I enrolled myself in a 10 month nutrition certification program. I had (and still have) hopes of becoming a Registered Dietician, however throughout highschool, studying and homework were the least of my worries and my grades reflected as much. The nutrition certification was a part-time program and so I decided to upgrade highschool courses that I needed to improve my grades in, or ones that I didn’t do at all. I earned my certification as a nutritionist in June 2011 and learnt more about what I want my future to look like. I am passionate about health and wellness, however, I don’t belive that my future includes a clinical atmosphere, nor does it involve nutrition counselling or meal planning.

Currently: I am working as a receptionist at a Naturopathic Clinic and absolutely loving it! I am in University studying communication and intend to complete my degree and carry on to earn my RD.
